AMNION, a treatment in warm water, is a technique that follows the chronological prenatal and neonatal developmental movements. Following a traumatic experience it is hypothesized that the Central Nervous System (CNS) regresses to an earlier imprint. It is with the assisted passive exercises that the therapist facilitates the patient’s body through the developemental movements in the water. Special attention is given to areas where sequence has been affected. The patterns are performed in the same order as they were learned in the embryonic nervous system. First the core muscles of the trunk are moved in a spiral fashion and then the distal parts (hands or feet) are moved in an attempt to increase the proprioceptive feedback to retrain the neuromuscular connections. At times a stored memory is recalled which interrupts the flow and overrides the sequence. Clients on occasion recreate the natural excitation of the flagellum as the sperm navigates its way up the fallopian tube. Large circular patterns can be seen in some clients as they spiral in all directions, above and below the surface of the water. With understanding it can be a process that demystifies a lifetime of pain and searching and integrates a more normal neuromuscular pattern. |
